2️⃣132: Did a robot write this 💾
is that really a question you have written down in your notebook?
Did you enjoy taking time off from reading last week?
Shoutout to everyone who reached out asking, “Is there a mistake with the email? All I see is a blank page.” Yes, I sent the correct email. Guess my references are outdated at this point 👴
Going back another week, there was a great response to email 2130: You Can Do Anything. It has the highest open rate of any email I’ve ever sent (76%!!). It always blows my mind how the emails that are last-minute ideas always resonate with people—those emails also happen to be the most personal ones, correlation?
There was one response to the email that stood out more than any:
I have a lifelong friend, a premium subscriber of the 2UESDAY, who sent me an interesting message when the email dropped:
Not sure if this defeats the purpose. But I thought it would be a fun alternative way to consume your newsletter. I don’t always have time to read, but I want to support you in any way I can and still hear what you have to say. Love you brother.
The message included an audio file. I clicked it open, pressed play, and proceeded to experience a whirlwind of emotions. My friend had shared an AI-generated podcast covering email 2130: You Can Do Anything.
I was upset, hurt, furious, confused, surprised, and totally intrigued.
AI is everywhere nowadays, and it’s never going away. You can spend your time online posting about how much you hate it, how it uses up too much energy, and how we’re all becoming dumber because of it. I’m not arguing against any of those things. There are long-term implications of AI’s prevalence in our everyday lives that we will ignore for years—while future generations will pay the price.
Here’s one thing I will say: If you’re in an industry that has somehow incorporated AI, and you’re refusing to leverage it as a tool, you’re only hurting yourself. There are countless ways to make this tool work for you without losing your creativity or critical thinking.
Back to the AI-generated podcast my friend sent me. It was good!
I was worried that it would somehow take the words I wrote and butcher my ideas or even steal my creativity while passing it off to others as something that’s easier to consume. Instead, what it did was expand on everything I wrote and present the ideas I alluded to but never mentioned directly. In a way, it’s just like all the movie, TV, and music podcasts I love to listen to. It was a group of people sitting around discussing a piece of media with respect and curiosity.
What more could I ask for?
There are many people in my life who know about my email but never read it. For any number of reasons, and that’s okay.
But what if there was a way for me to get all those people who don’t have the time or energy to read my random thoughts for 10 minutes every week to still engage with 2UESDAY?
I realized, this is it.
Below you’ll find the link to the first-ever episode of 2UESDAY2UESDAY podcast. If you know anyone who might enjoy what I write but isn’t going to subscribe and read, share this email with them so they know there’s a new way to enjoy 2UESDAY.
As always, thank you so much for supporting everything I’m trying to do here. This all keeps going because you all keep reading.
enjoi 🙏
